Public & Private Sector Development Initiative (“PPSDI”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and personal data. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. It is issued in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

1. Who we are (Data Controller)

2. The personal data we collect

  • Information you give us through our forms (for example the Get Involved, volunteer, partnership, or enquiry forms): your name, email address, organisation, and the content of your message.
  • Donation information, where you choose to give: processed securely by our payment partner. We do not store your full card or bank details on this website.
  • Job applications: any details you send when applying for a role.
  • Technical information: standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) and essential cookies needed for the site to function.

3. How we use your data and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiries and requests, and to manage volunteering and partnership interest, on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in operating the organisation.
  • To process and acknowledge donations, on the basis of performing a transaction you requested and our legal obligations.
  • To consider job applications, on the basis of taking steps at your request prior to any engagement.
  • To maintain the security and performance of the website, on the basis of legitimate interest.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you.

4. Consent

Where we rely on consent (for example when you submit a form), we ask for it clearly and you may withdraw it at any time by contacting info@ppsdi.org. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and only as needed:

  • Hosting and website infrastructure providers.
  • Email delivery providers used to send and receive messages.
  • Payment processors (for donations), who handle payment data under their own security standards.

We may also disclose data where required by law or by a competent authority. Where data is processed outside Nigeria, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection consistent with the NDPA.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, to meet legal or reporting obligations, or to resolve disputes. Enquiry and form data is reviewed periodically and deleted when no longer needed.

7. How we protect your data

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including HTTPS encryption, access controls, secure hosting, and staff access limited to those who need it, to guard against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

8. Your rights

Under the NDPA / NDPR you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”), where applicable;
  • Object to or request restriction of processing;
  • Withdraw consent at any time;
  • Request portability of the data you provided; and
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies necessary for the website to function. If, in future, we use analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will request your consent first. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal data properly, please contact us first at info@ppsdi.org so we can address it. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it was last revised.
